Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Derby
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 38 hours per week, Mon-Fri. Flexible
Salary: £34,000 to £38,000 (dependant on experience and skills)

HYDRO is a global aerospace company with headquarters in Germany’s Black Forest. Our UK facility has recently relocated to larger premises due to our continued growth. We are close to the A50, M1 and M42 and within a short commute time from Derby, Nottingham and Leicester. We are co located on the Rolls-Royce campus on Victory Road, Derby, our largest UK customer.
Our UK business specialises in the production and delivery of aerospace tooling. Manufacturing and sourcing tools for engine and airframe build and repair, working with high profile OEMs to deliver quality products day in, day out.
This is an exciting time to join our business, having experienced significant growth within our manufacturing order book we are now rapidly expanding our UK based capabilities.
About the role:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our multi-skilled and diverse team. Working in a fast-paced environment the role will provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to further develop their skills within the aerospace industry. The role of the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for responding to any queries from manufacturing suppliers, warranty tickets or engineering queries that may arise from the operational teams within Hydro. The Manufacturing Engineer will be the first point of contact for any manufacturing, warranty or service desk queries.
Responsibilities:
  • Initial point of contact for any manufacturing queries;
  • To assist in warranty claims and investigations to agree liability and resolve to completion;
  • Writing of modification and repair specifications to allow pricing and manufacturing of tools;
  • Completing and submitting concessions and waivers to enable manufacture to continue without delay;
  • Recording and maintaining information on Hydro IT systems as required;
  • Managing the Manufacturing Tickets, either internal or vendor queries, work with suppliers to provide technical tooling solutions;
  • Liaising with the customer to formalise the solution to vendor queries;
  • Escalation of unresolved issues e.g. technical changes, late delivery/release;
  • To support Hydro UK team (Quality Inspectors, Service Engineer, GSE, ESR) with technical issues;
  • Act as an ambassador for manufacturing quality to the business;
  • Support the Quality Manager with the investigation and close-out of PIR’s (Problem Investigation Report);
  • Travel as and when required to customer sites to undertake support/inspection of tooling;
  • Travel as and when required to vendor sites to undertake support/inspection of tooling;
  • Any other associated duties assigned by the Team Lead Manufacturing Engineering and Head of Industrialisation Tooling.

About You:
  • Professional qualification HNC/Degree in an engineering discipline
  • Have a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles
  • Have an understanding of CE Marking Directives
  • To have an understanding of lifting equipment inspection processes
  • Have a general understanding of material properties and equivalents
  • Excellent technical understanding and evaluation of customer needs
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-disciplined with excellent organisational and time management skills. Ability to prioritise tasks and deal with a number of queries simultaneously.
  • Strong character to ensure the correct quality decisions are made whilst under pressure to deliver tooling solutions to meet Hydro expectations
  • Resourceful in finding information to support queries
  • Valid driving licence and passport is essential
  • Willingness to travel in UK and worldwide as required
  • A flexible approach to work and have a keen interest in supporting the wider business as required
