About the Role:
Join a leading manufacturing business in Milton Keynes, operating from a state-of-the-art facility. As a Production Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency and driving process improvements.
The responsibilities of the Manufacturing Engineer are as follows:
- Define and maintain lean space allocation and layout plans for value streams, updating CAD files as needed.
- Develop structured process documents for each value stream process, including sequences, tasks, and safety requirements.
- Ensure balanced operations and flexibility for output rates.
- Implement user-friendly work instructions and SOPs, considering engineering specifications and quality standards, at minimal cost.
- Manage point-of-use logistics/storage efficiently.
- Select and maintain lean tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Manage lean consumables for each operation.
- Establish manual standard core times for each process step, inclusive of setup and cycle run times.
- Maintain VM data structures and fields for product routing.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety protocols.
- Identify opportunities for automation to improve output.
- Conduct audits and drive process improvements to eliminate waste.
- Design and manage production aids, assessing external support when needed.
- Provide effective stakeholder meeting support.
The successful Manufacturing Engineer will have the following skills/experience:
- Educated in an engineering or manufacturing discipline / equivalent experience
- Proven skills, knowledge, experience, and expertise in developing and supporting new and existing production lines and plant equipment.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma in the manufacturing field preferable.
- Formal training in Lean/Six Sigma would be preferable.
- Demonstrated engineering/manufacturing experience.
- Excellent analytical skills combined with good negotiation and conflict management skills with proficiency in computers would be beneficial.
