Job description

Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead in Special Equipment required to join the existing team at a leading manufacturer of sophisticated vacuum products, exhaust management systems and related value-added services based in Clevedon – BS21. The post holder will be responsible for the daily management and the performance of the specially designed equipment Manufacturing Engineering team.
  • Up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 25 days holiday per year + bank holidays

About the role
  • Lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers to ensure an efficient production process through evolving and introducing the most suitable manufacturing processes for products that deliver safe, high quality, repeatable, cost-effective solutions with agreed, calculated time outputs.     
  • Drive collaborative working with other support departments (Operations, Quality, MI etc) to resolve issues impacting the manufacturing process
  • Lead major change projects that support goals through improvement strategies, implementing a range of improvement methodologies.
  • Keen focus on budgetary adherence, performance and driving out recurrent waste.
  • Being key driving force in implementation of lean initiatives within the business with emphasis on development of production processes using lean tools such as value steam mapping, 5s etc
  • Lead investigations and the ability to relay information to all levels in the business.
  • Interpret drawings to provide dimensional inspection or manufacturing requirements and informed selection of techniques of measurement.
  • Ensure Manufacturing Engineering specifications, processes & best practices are implemented throughout ME documentation.

The right candidate
  • Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes and techniques
  • Confident leading teams of people – prior experience is essential
  • Experienced in the use of lean methodologies and tools including 6S, std work, SIM, change management, TPM, kaizen,, VSM, SIPOC, PFMEA.
  • Previous experience in setting and achieving manufacturing business plans , KPIs and outputs
  • Use skills matrix's to develop personal and team development plans
  • Audit awareness, able to represent Manufacturing Engineering function during internal and external audits
  • Experienced in change management, project management and leading improvement teams, with a track record of implementing planned business benefits
