Here at Theo James Recruitment, we are working alongside a well established manufacturing organisation in the Newcastle area who are recruiting for Manufacturing Engineer to join their team.

Company Overview:

We are working with a leading manufacturer of Fabricated & Welded products who supply to a range of industries, in their search for a new Manufacturing Engineer due to continued growth in the business. This role will offer longevity and progression as the company continue to increase turnover year on year.

As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible forthe translation of customer requirements and specifications into ERP routings and manufacturing plans, fulfilling customer quality and technical specifications in the most cost-effective manner.

This will include developing and improves manufacturing methods, utilising knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication and machining processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all customer specifications and quality requirements are incorporated in all routings and shop floor paperwork.
  • Produce new and verify existing process drawings ensuring conformance.
  • Define and produce drawings for any relevant Jig & Tooling.
  • Effectively manage process change to minimise quality and scrap risk, by ensuring changes are communicated and introduced in a controlled and progressive way.
  • Produce detailed routings within ERP system including material requirements and shop floor documentation.
  • Work with procurement to determine product specifications for the correct purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, waste elimination and cost reduction including SMED, 5S, VSM, Cellular manufacture, flow, and other lean manufacturing practices including six sigma DMAIC processes.
  • Perform PFMEA and Risk assessments.
  • Support the investigation and root cause analysis of external customer and internal NCRs as required.
  • Ensure corrective & preventive actions are incorporated into existing/ future routings and build sequences.
  • Support and project manage the introduction of new manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring project schedules and quality gates are met to ensure the project is delivered in time and to schedule.

Skills & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a Mechanical Engineering Discipline.
  • 2-5+ years previous experience of working in a similar role.
  • Experience or exposure to fabrication and welding processes.
  • Ability to interpret complex mechanical and technical drawings and use CAD software.
  • Understand profiling, fabrication, welding, painting and machine operations.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices.
