Job description

The Duty officer role is responsible for the daily coordination of Cheshire West and Chester Markets. 

To be involved and work closely with the market management team to maintain a vibrant trading and business environment. To undertake any associated duties with the operations of sites and to supervise and coordinate the duties of the market staff and liaison between traders and management. To assist in the occupancy of new businesses and market growth through customer service and sales.

Cheshire West and Chester Council have two fantastic opportunities for the right candidates to join Ellesmere Port Market in an exciting time which involves reimagining the market and facilities.

The role will be responsible for the daily operations of the market, to supervise staff in maintaining a safe working environment, and to be the initial point of contact for traders and members of the public along with administration duties in keeping in line with policies and procedures. 

The candidates must be flexible to work weekends on a rota basis 5 days a week and evenings on an ad hoc basis. The roles are permanent positions and provide great opportunities in supporting event management and new starter businesses in a modern working environment with new facilities. The position will support the market team and may require working across Cheshire West and Chester market sites on an ad hoc basis. 

Experience of supervising a team is desirable although we welcome candidates with an initiative-taking approach to working methods. A passion in delivering great customer service is advantageous in supporting the service delivery of the market and assisting traders and members of the public. A working knowledge of health & safety practices along with resource planning is desirable.
