About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role would ideally be in the North of the country as you will be covering sites in the North East and Scotland

What you’ll do

  • Develop and maintain MHE training programmes and materials, covering a range of equipment, with a strong focus on health and safety.
  • Conduct MHE training sessions for new and existing equipment operators, emphasising safe practices and procedures for FLT, PPT, and other MHE, maximising course capacity.
  • Evaluate operator performance, provide feedback, and address skill gaps related to health and safety across various MHE. Relay feedback directly to individuals and line managers.
  • Enforce safety procedures and regulations related to MHE operations, emphasising accident prevention, ergonomics, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with the SHE department to identify and address safety concerns and incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate training records and certifications for all MHE operators with an emphasis on safety compliance.
  • Coordinate with external training providers to ensure all operator training is completed within recommended timeframes, maximising course capacity.
  • Provide information so MHE Assessors can complete yearly observations on all equipment operators.
  • Complete a yearly observation on all MHE Assessors to ensure continued capability to assess.
  • Carry out Training Audits across your sites to ensure they are prepared for annual audits such as Logistics Audit
  • Work closely with Line Manager and operational management to identify key priorities on sites.
  • Ensure all training is recorded via our Learning Management System (YGL), where training is unable to be recorded in this manner ensure each site has up to date training matrices for each department and function.

About you

  • A strong desire to work closely with L&D Manager and colleagues to achieve a consistent approach to MHE across all supply sites.
  • The willingness and ability to travel to other sites on a regular basis, including overnight stays as required.
  • An understanding of Supply Chain Operations.
  • Skilled in providing on the job training and coaching.
  • Instantly recognises when standards aren’t being met and knows how best to support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence changes in supply chain operations.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels.
  • High regard for Food Safety & SHE
  • Written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly.
  • IT knowledge – YGP/YGL/Excel/Microsoft 365.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and innovative approach to work.

Key Requirements / Qualifications

  • Certification as an MHE Trainer. RTITB, AITT or ITSSAR Qualified
  • Knowledge of various types of Material Handling Equipment, including FLT, PPT, MEWPs ‘/and other MHE, and their safe operation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to MHE.
  • Previous experience in Manufacturing & Warehouse operations is desirable.
