We are looking for:

Materials & Testing Lab

The Aerospace & Defence Customer Technical Development (A&D CTD) team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Wrexham Material & Testing Lab.
The M&T Lab has a key support role in delivering product test data for Aero & Non-Aero customer qualifications, product re-sites, product development, and problem investigation & resolution activities.

We count on you for:

  • Fabricate a variety of adhesive and composite test panels/specimens using autoclave, RTM & VBO processes.
  • Machine a variety of test coupons from panels in preparation for mechanical testing. Undertake related activities including specimen measurement, tab bonding & strain gauging.
  • Comply with the company HSE standards, procedures and 5S guidelines
  • Demonstrate and promote strong safety culture adherence.
  • Assure all data is entered accurately in company documentation and systems.
  • Be able to work alone, and as part of a team.
  • Be adaptable to changing work practices, demands and priorities.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail.
  • Be willing to learn new skills and maintain on-going personal development.

You can count on us for:

  • Reporting directly to the M&T Lab Leader, the grade and pay will be dependent on education, skills & experience.
  • Working standard hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm), with the possibility of moving to a 2 or 3-shift work pattern.
  • Training will be provided to a successful candidate without prior experience in a Composites or Adhesives industrial environment.

You will bring:

  • Have a minimum of 5 GCSE/O-Levels at grade 4/C or above. Must include Maths, English Language and a Science subject.
  • Must possess the ability to read and write in English; and comprehend technical documents.
  • Computer literate with experience of using Google applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of composite ply cutting, laminating, fabrication & machining processes.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good time management, self-prioritisation and motivation.
  • Experience of working in a team environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in composite lamination and fabrication processes (Autoclave/RTM/VBO).
  • Experience in paste and/or film adhesive test panel fabrication.
  • Experience operating cutting & machining equipment such as Ultrasonic Cutter, CNC grinder, Vertical Mill Centre, Water Jet Cutter & Composite Plate Saw.
  • Two or more years working at an industrial/technology company.
