Role: Materials Test Technician

The Client:
The Client is a leading national Tier 1 Group contractor who works on a national basis. You will be working in their state of the art Materials Test facility in Leighton Buzzard
What will you be responsible for?
Overview and expectations of the role:
- The Technician assists staff in carrying out their routine duties.
- The Technician has the basic knowledge of the skills required but will need guidance and gain experience until shown to be competent.
- Once competent the Technician is expected to work under their own initiative.
Experience and Qualifications required:
- Understand and operate health, safety and welfare systems in the workplace including identification of hazards,assess risks, comply with statutory requirements and encourage a good culture of H, S, E & Q
- Understand the need for and be able to plan and prepare accurate, resourced and achievable work schedules
- Use IT systems to obtain, understand, evaluate and use project information
- Develop working relationships with team members and other stakeholders as required
- Demonstrate continuing commitment to personal and professional development
- Understand, integrate and evaluate client specifications and requirements
- Contribute to planning and setting up work as required
- Assist in the control of work space to ensure work is conducted safely, effectively and to the correct quality standards
- Assist in the monitoring and control of the works and understand how to report & implement corrective action when required
- Prepare and conduct appropriate tests, collate, check and verify information meets the agreed standards and requirements
- Assist in the preparation of Method Statements and Risk Assessments, programmes and monitor progress and deal with variations to the plan
- Assist in the preparation of material requirements, prepare orders, monitor supply and maintain records
- Check completed work in accordance with agreed ITP
- Understand how to obtain the information needed to take critical decisions and confirm these decisions with Line Manager
