What is the PGCE?

The PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) is a comprehensive post graduate educational qualification, designed for those aspiring to become professional teachers in the UK. Securing your licence to teach (QTS) and what it could mean for you.

What does the Teacher Training involve?

What about the Maintenance Loan?

This is an assessed loan with a maximum of £9700 being awarded for those studying full time and not living in a parental setting. Your loan will be confirmed once your application is approved by the teaching school and UCAS.

What about the Tuition Fee Loan?

This is another assessed loan with the maximum amount awarded to those living independently from their parental home (£9978).

How do I apply?

If your CV is not complete, please apply anyway, but at a minimum add your qualifications from secondary level up to your Degree.

Include any experiences you have had with tutoring, mentoring, working with young people or student services support.

You will need to graduate with a 2:2 or better, in at least a 50% mathematics related course of study.

Safeguarding

All candidates will need to have an Enhanced DBS check completed before they can begin teaching. This is conducted by the school. If you have any concerns about this, please just mention it when we speak, so we can work out if this would affect your application, or not.

You will also need to prove your identity and your right to work in the UK. Full support given for this.
