As a result of our growth, Outwood Academy Redcar are excited to be expanding our team and are looking to appoint an ambitious and highly effective Second in Department Maths Teacher to support our Head of Department. The ideal candidate is either a Second in Department currently or has the potential to take on the additional responsibility.
The Maths department at Outwood Redcar consists of a Head of Department, supported by a team of 6 specialist mathematics teachers, and 2 one-to-one tutors.This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and inspiring subject specialist, to lead on identified roles within the department; the successful applicant will be responsible for leading and teaching maths across all key stages and must be prepared to teach GCSE.
The Maths department works closely with subject Directors within the Trust to help shape and implement the Trust wide Scheme of Work which is underpinned by a Teaching for Mastery approach to develop skills of reasoning, fluency and problem-solving. One of our department aims is to create a culture where students enjoy studying Maths and have the confidence and resilience needed to develop their Mathematical fluency. The department offers exciting enrichment opportunities to our students allow them to see Maths outside of the classroom.
Since becoming part of the Outwood Family, GCSE results have improved and we will work tirelessly to ensure our progress continues.
We have won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.
