About the Role: We are seeking a Maths Teacher to join our team at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), catering to students aged 7-16 with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. The ideal candidate will work sensitively with students across the age and ability ranges, focusing on Key Stages 3 and 4.
Responsibilities:
- Teach mathematics effectively to students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, ensuring access to the curriculum through differentiated learning tasks.
- Develop and deliver mathematics curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4, with a specialisation in numeracy and problem-solving skills.
- Implement behaviour modification, counselling, and therapeutic strategies to motivate students, improve application to learning, and raise their self-esteem.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues, parents, and other professionals to coordinate support for students' educational needs.
- Stay updated on relevant developments in special educational needs provision and respond to directives to enhance service development.
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher status with evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience teaching mathematics to children with special educational needs, preferably in a PRU setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals to maximise student's achievements.
- Knowledge of behaviour modification strategies, therapeutic approaches, and the legislative framework related to special educational needs provision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
