Cotswold Energy group is an exciting, profitable growing company within a large growth sector supplying renewable solutions to both the domestic and commercial markets.
Due to growth, we are looking for a Mechanical and Electrical Estimator to join the team, working closely with the Commercial, Design and Sales teams you will be an integral part of the successful delivery of projects and more importantly helping to reduce our communities carbon emissions.
This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing company who puts social responsibility at the heart of what we do, every day is different, and you will be working on a large array of projects from domestic air source heat pump projects through to complex commercial water source projects.
This role will require working closely with the Commercial, Sales and Design teams. You will be responsible for the estimation and associated activities of all non-standard domestic projects and preparation of supporting documentation along with monitoring of the contract’s performance throughout the project life cycle.
We will consider candidates who have a background in cost and project management, design management or quantity surveying background within the construction or Mechanical and Electrical sector. The bias of work is based around Mechanical aspect of the projects.
Key Responsibilities
· Review projects based on scope of works documents, technical drawings, Schematics or design intent and report on project feasibility (risk vs reward)
· Production of cost estimates for Labour, materials and preliminary items broken down into category sections.
· Communication with sales team to ensure expectations are being met/managed.
· Management of RFI (request for information) process with the client through the tender process.
· Obtaining quotes from specialist contractors/suppliers.
· Co-ordination with the procurement and design team where necessary to ascertain commercial and qualitive suitability of products.
· Create a scope of works for the project including any inclusions and exclusions and where necessary creating initial material schedules.
· Visiting site as necessary and carrying out site surveys as necessary to ascertain relevant information to ensure accuracy.
Skills and experience
· Experience within a construction or Mechanical and/or Electrical estimating or design role.
· Excellent attention to detail – being able to read and interpret technical information and understand how it impacts the project
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Good numeracy skills.
· Good IT skills – proficient in Microsoft products especially Excel and Word. Experience using CAD (Autodesk) would be beneficial.
· Understanding of the wider construction industry would be advantageous especially requirements under CDM2015.
