The role
As a Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll provide a building services asset surveying service to our customers, the MoD and the Babcock Plant Managers as company asset owners, for Devonport Royal Dockyard under the Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) contract. To determine asset condition and required works to maintain condition and statutory conformance.
Day to day, you'll be part of the Built Environment Surveying Team, primarily undertaking the Mechanical and Electrical elements of building surveys to facilitate meeting KPI targets.
- The post holder will be responsible for assessing the condition and statutory compliance of the building services.
- Interrogating maintenance of asset databases and scoping any remedial works required to meet contract standards.
- The post holder will be required to liaise with internal and external customers to survey and report back on planned maintenance, responsive repairs and lifecycle condition of buildings, services and infrastructure assets within the Devonport Dockyard estate.
This role is full time, 36 hours based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.
Essential experience of the Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor:
- Ability to read and write clear and concise technical reports to all levels within the organisation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- An in-depth understanding of building services and regulations across a variety of building types.
- Experience of producing technical reports, specifications and ability to interrogate technical information for the production of KPI reports - Desirable.
- Demonstrate an understanding of regulatory compliance relating to building services.
- Ability to produce technical drawings
- Experience of Computer-aided facility management CAFM systems.
Qualifications for the Mechanical and Electrical Surveyor:
- Degree (or equivalent), in a relevant built environment discipline e.g. construction management, surveying, building services, facilities management, structural engineer.
- Membership of a relevant professional organisation such as CIOB or RICS.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance for this role.
