Our client are a market leading manufacturer of automated solutions, including conveyors and bespoke robotic cells. They provide into a multitude of industries including but not limited to: automated logistics and food and beverage manufacture, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in automated distribution and robots to join their growing team.

Key Responsibilities – Mechanical Design Engineer

• Designing both bespoke and updating existing products and solutions
• Produce drawings using SolidWorks / AutoCad
• Creating BOM
• Ensuring that Engineering calculations are carried out.
• Ensure Directives & Engineering standards are adhered to.
• Customer Liaison
• Occasional visits to our customer sites.

Qualifications & Experience – Mechanical Design Engineer

• Relevant Engineering degree - Mechanical Engineering preferred
• Minimum 3 years post qualification Mechanical Design Engineering experience
• Hands on exposure to the design of electro-mechanical systems in an industrial, automotive or aerospace environment. Ideally designing conveyors, automation or materials handling equipment
• Able to interpret customer and supplier technical documentation & specifications
• Proficient in the generation of design concepts taking input from other cross-functional team members.
• CAD Macros / Automation
• Computer programming (coding) experience (beneficial, not compulsory)
• Rapid Prototyping experience (3D Printing, beneficial)
• Working knowledge of structural mechanics and implementation of Finite Element Analysis in Design (beneficial)
• Working knowledge of kinematics and dynamics (theoretical, or via software, or both), and ability to use for analysis of new designs
• Experience with PDM systems (beneficial, not compulsory)
• Experience of using CAD Library generation / automation software (beneficial – not compulsory)
• Conveyor design experience (very beneficial, however not compulsory). Internal training would be provided.
