The position is open to engineer and senior engineer applicants.This is a great opportunity to join a successful team and make a real difference in an innovative and creative engineering environment.Required: Mechanical Design Engineer – Castings * The ideal candidate will have experience in designing castings and cast components for high-volume applications, such as automotive / marine / aircraft engines, drivelines, gearboxes, or electric motors or similar. * In addition, you will need experience with systems-level design including product specifications, supplier management, test and validation procedures, FMEA, 8D, and DVP processes.Note: This is not a detailed level CAD design role.In this role, you will be responsible for designing complex castings and other components for use in high-volume applications (such as automotive engines – diesel, hybrid and new hydrogen technology).You will need to have a strong understanding of engineering principles and be able to design components to meet specific requirements. You will also need to work closely with suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure components are designed, tested and validated according to the overall systems requirements.Skills / Knowledge Required: Mechanical Design Engineer – Castings * A degree in Mechanical Engineering, automotive engineering or a related discipline * At least 5 years of experience in Mechanical Design Engineering (focusing on cast components) * Expertise in designing castings and cast components for high-volume and high reliability applications * Experience of systems-level design (understanding the V-Model) * Experience of developing product specifications and working with suppliers (e.g. CAD design) * Ability to develop test and validation requirements * Experience with FMEA, 8D, and DVP processes * Experience of working as Mechanical Design Engineer in the automotive industry would be advantageousThe Mechanical Design Engineer opening is commutable from Rocester, Stoke on Trent, Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Stafford, and Burton
