Using patented technology, their state-of-the-art Steam Screw Expander generator sets deliver clean energy from the waste steam of plant owners. From cottage industry artisans to multi-nationals, Heliex Power unlocks the potential of their customers’ waste heat and steam - enabling businesses to prosper and do their bit in saving the planet.

The business is now seeking to scale up sales efforts to fully capitalise on significant market opportunities and as such, is on a large recruitment drive to support its in-house design, manufacture and assembly capabilities. Headcount is expected to increase by c.50% over the next 12 months, which will present significant opportunities for career growth to those joining the business at this stage of their journey.

The Role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will join Heliex Power's existing Engineering team, supporting the delivery of improvements to existing products and defining the next generation of Heliex Power Generator sets. You will be responsible for the design of all genset and steam screw expander assemblies and components using Solidworks 3D CAD Software, for both existing product and new development projects.

The role will include:

  • CAD Modelling (Solidworks) of all genset components and assemblies (pipework, sheet metal, drive systems etc).
  • Detail drawing (Solidworks) of all genset components.
  • Liaise with key component suppliers to support modelling activities
  • Part creation in the MRP system
  • BOM creation and manipulation in the MRP system
  • Work cross-functionally to achieve the successful delivery and implementation of changes for the Heliex product line.
  • Work with the rest of the Engineering Team to review, approve and release proposed design changes.
  • Work within project schedules and budgets on specific projects.
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in analysis and solution of engineering-related problems as appropriate.
  • Work within and support the Engineering change control system.

The person

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Around 3 years of experience working in a design role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced user of Solidworks CAD system.
  • Experience in the design of power-generating equipment and/or rotating equipment preferred (but not essential)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent analytical skills including the ability to analyse, troubleshoot, process, change and improve design and equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Able to work effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers.
