Mechanical Design Engineer urgently required to work for a specialist niche manufacturing business based in Reading. We are looking for a mechanically biased Design Engineer who can manage a small team of 2 team members whilst driving the business and managing the projects.

This is a key role to the business where although you are design based there will be a heavy involvement of working with customers to understand their specifications and deadlines and how the business can keep the clients satisfied. Your role will be to help co-ordinate the design team and act as the first point of contact for technical design matters on projects, utilising your experienced and working knowledge of the Mechanical design process, liaising with the Electronics Engineers and Production line to understand the issues and how to fix them accordingly.

In this role, you will be required to design custom / bespoke electromechanical equipment to supply the Electronics Industry. This will involve specification review and directly liaising with customers and coordinating with suppliers. You will be expected to ensure that all design work is delivered to the correct standards and specifications liaising with other departments and communicate effectively with the client through technical presentations, technical queries, and reports and attend and contribute to all relevant project and technical meetings.

We are looking for someone with experience of running projects from cradle to grave, have thew ability to work with customers and understand the requirements, this may require multiple points of contact including calls, emails, teams meetings and also visits to customer sites.

The successful candidate will be familiar with:

• 3D CAD with SolidWorks and data processing experience and other CAD packages.
• Experience with generating CNC Programs with Solidworks CAM would be advantageous but not essential.
• You will have experience of working on tight deadlines.
• Candidates must have a positive attitude to working towards safety practices and quality and be flexible to meet the business needs and our customer's requirements.
• Personal skills required: very good communication, problem solving, independent worker, proactive and good Team Leader.
