Responsible for all mechanical related Engineering, drawings and engineering best practice for the transformer business. This role plays a pivotal part within the Transformer Management Team coordinating the activities for mechanical engineering, whilst working closely with all related functions to support the end to end process.
Main Responsibilities- Responsibility for the management and development of the Mechanical Engineering team to develop contract specifications, convert requirements into drawing schemes and issue for procure, manufacture & test.
- Develop a flexible team capable of supporting the succession and growth plans
- Using project management philosophies, and in conjunction with the Projects team, recognise the weekly delivery requirements, and ensure capabilities and capacity to delivery against them.
- Engage with upstream internal suppliers, including Commercial Operations, and down stream delivery including Supply Chain and Manufacturing and Test.
- Drive best practice and continuous improvement within the team
- Develop the team for succession and talent growth.
- Support the development of and subsequent management and reporting of the engineering budget.
- Develop RoadMap projects to address improvement activities of the business.
- Lead key investigations determining root cause and resulting CAPA actions.
- Support H&S awareness across the site to drive down the number of accidents and near misses.
- Support the manufacturing business for fault finding, and rectifications.
- Ensure the business has the correct tools, software, that are fit for purpose.
- Develop a working environment based on the BRUSH values.
Qualifications
- A degree background in Business, Science or an Engineering related discipline.
- Project Management qualification, such as Prince or AMP - desireable

- Understanding of ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001
Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
- Understanding and application of lean methodology, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve & Control) principles and applications.
