Jacobs Nuclear is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver 7bn of major projects. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.
As a result of increasing demand for our services, there are significant opportunities for you, as a Mechanical Designer to support a key project within the nuclear business.
Working on a flexible hybrid basis from Westlakes as a member of a developing team supporting the SWM Receipt Facility and SWM Land Preparation Projects. You will gain exposure in taking part in meetings both within the office and on site with stakeholders as required while developing and maintaining close working relationships with team members. This opportunity will also include trips to Hinton House to engage and work closely with the wider engineering team. The SWM Receipt facility project is the first from inception within the PPP framework. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with a major project from concept design as a site facing representative.
As a Mechanical Designer your responsibilities will include;
- Develop design concepts into scheme drawings and translate into General Arrangement, Sub-Assembly and detail drawings in accordance with British Standard and client specifications.
- Develop design concepts within Autodesk Inventor.
- Assist with the development of solutions to technical issues as a member of an integrated project team, reporting to technical leads and directly to the client. Developing design solutions based on client requirements.
- Liaise with stakeholders on site, undertake survey works as required.
- Work alongside and support Design team members
- Liaise with other engineering disciplines
- Prepare for and attend design reviews as required
- Prepare for and attend HAZOPS as required
As a Mechanical Designer you will have experience of;
- AutoDesk AutoCAD and AutoDesk Inventor 2D/3D design software
- Experinced in using Autodesk Vault
- Mechanical Handling Experience
- In-Cell/Nuclear Containment Design Experience
- Minimum HNC/BTEC
- Knowledge of BS drawing standard BS8888
- Awareness of Designer Role CDM regulatory requirements
