Job description

RECRUITMENTiQ is working in partnership with a global leader in the production of closures for spirits, wine, edible oil, water and a wide range of other beverages.

An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer on a continental shift basis. We are looking for a capable, pro-active Engineer who can work through tasks unaided.

The Role

The role covers all aspects of engineering process and maintenance, reporting to the Assembly Engineering Team Leader. In order to support the business needs, it will be necessary to maintain flexibility across departments, even though the position will be based within OMP.

A fast-paced design and manufacturing business, we have won a number of new products. As well as sound engineering experience, the successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and possess strengths in problem-solving and prioritisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to SHE procedures and compliance. To ensure self and machines conform to SHE procedures and comply with defined working methods and risk assessments to deliver a continually improving SHE performance.
  • Be legally compliant in working with mechanical equipment and follow legislative guidance where in place.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient operation of all machines in area of responsible.
  • Working closely with the wider engineering team to support completion of the planned maintenance schedule.
  • Quickly and efficiently diagnose faults across all areas of operations to support a high level of machine performance (OEE).
  • Ensure breakdowns are repaired as quickly and effectively as possible, seeking prioritisation if necessary, and advise department of estimated completion time.
  • Ensure there is an effective communication link between all shifts, completing logbooks or other reports as required.
  • Work with Shift Manager and Engineering Team Leader in defining engineering priorities.
  • Work and maintain a high level of good housekeeping within the plant and minimise avoidable safety risks i.e., slips and trips.
  • Carry out any other reasonable task as allocated to you.
  • Work with others to identify areas for improvement and support with engineering solutions and support.

Skills and Experience

  • Fully qualified Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing
  • Experienced in fault diagnosis and problem solving
  • Able to work well and communicate across multiple teams
  • Ability to work unsupervised using your own initiative is required
  • Positive attitude with a flexible approach to work
