A new vacancy for a Mechanical Engineer / Product Developer with the UK division of a global manufacturer of process control products used in a wide range of international Oil & Gas and Chemical Process markets. The company is looking the recruit a Mechanical Engineer / Product Developer with the ability to to 'bring into life' new product concepts, prototypes and pre-production products.
The successful candidate will also provide high level technical advice and support both internally and externally on any material related product applications or issues.
Responsibilities:
- To provide ideas and information to support the company's innovation processes and provide resource to project teams as required.
- To research and maintain to a current status, all relevant knowledge with respect to product design codes, standards, trends, legislation and technology that could have positive benefit to our products and business.
- To include a 'technology watch' on new materials, processes and relevant industrial trends for the same.
- To develop specifications such that they can be introduced into the manufacture of products, new or existing and into appropriate processes.
- To undertake R&D and design of products from concept brief to practical solution, including undertaking all calculations to determine product performance criteria.
- To provide general technical support on new products and materials both internally and externally.
- To select appropriate materials for product specification and assist in vendor selection and evaluation.
- To coordinate prototype production and evaluation.
- To be responsible for product performance testing, evaluation and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or Design.
- Industry experience within the valve manufacturing or oil & gas and chemical process industries
- Design engineering experience.
- Fluid technology & valve experience (desirable).
