Our client is a well funded scale-up engineering company. The role is new and evolutionary. From the outset there is a requirement for creative input from all involved in the organisation.
The successful candidate will be an exceptional engineer with an mechatronics or robotics background. There is a firm belief within the organisation that the more diverse the team, the more successful it will be.
Key responsibilties
Working collaboratively with our Electronic, Software, AI, Geotechnical, and T&V engineers:
- Develop innovative electro-mechanical systems to address engineering challenges
- Develop products that will be integrated into solutions for our clients
- Support the cost down of our product range to achieve the production cost target
- Test systems as part of the ongoing development
- Develop prototypes and models to de-risk development and gain understanding
Designing, developing and enhancing electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices.
Creating automated systems and the software to control them.
Conducting research, documenting findings, and presenting reports at meetings.
Developing design documents for mechanical parts and final products.
Understanding problems and developing solutions that satisfy them.
Introduce and support best practice and lean processes
Ensure designed products meet safety and regulatory standards
Experience, skills & knowledge
BSc in mechatronics engineering or similar
Familiar with the design lifecycle including design reviews and the stage gate process or similar
CAD modelling and data management skills (Solidworks & PDM an advantage)
Knowledge of manufacturing documentation (Drawings, BoMs, GD&T, etc.)
Complex calculations associated with design of systems
Finite Element simulation and optimisation of parts
Ability to project manage your own delivery to meet defined objectives
Experience of robotic or similar systems design
Strong Mechanical system design with interface to electrical, electronics and control
