SalaryCarbon60 are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a chemical processing client of ours based in Royston. The applying candidate should have experience carrying out industrial and heavy plant maintenance.
As an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for the delivery of preventative/proactive maintenance of Mechanical systems and its sub or support systems, attending to any reactive/corrective maintenance that arises, fault finding, completing any repairs/replacements/calibration or set-up, installation of new systems/equipment, commissioning alongside operations on returning to service
In addition, you will be expected to have knowledge, experience and compliance in following areas.
- Safety should always be the highest priority for any tasks undertaken, in conjunction with our life saving policies and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience of site services, Gas, Compressed air, Steam, cooling water and how to deenergise and work on safely.
- Knowledge and use of technical drawings & operator manuals alongside Mechanical exploded view/cross sectional drawings & P&ID's to aid fault diagnosis process.
- Reduce Plant downtime by proposing/implementing improvements.
- Contribute to improving the site performance in all aspects of safe operation, regulatory compliance, productive output and cost efficiency by improving the engineering reliability of site equipment and ensuring appropriate maintenance frequency of assets is complied with.
- Keep accurate written records of work carried out using SAP CMMS system
- Work alongside compliance & technical author to support the technical review of written maintenance documents and operational procedures.
- Conducting Inspections, testing, calibration, adjustments and monitoring tasks as required to maintain efficient plant and build-in equipment reliability.

Ability to read and comprehend Mechanical Schematics & OEM Manuals, P&ID's | Essential |
Experience in maintaining rotating equipment | Desirable |
Mechanical experience in a manufacturing / chemical industry within a maintenance function | Desirable |
Experience of working with Glass lined reactors & chemical tanks & vessels, and their sub systems | Desirable |
Experience in site services, cooling water, natural gas, compressed air, steam | Desirable |
Experience in workshop techniques to manufacture essential parts to aid maintenance. | Desirable |
CMMS experience for Work Order updates & aiding fault diagnosis, previous experience with SAP would be desirable | Desirable |

This Mechanical Engineer position offers an amazing salary along with other additional benefits. You will need to be flexible with your working hours and be willing to work 12 hours shifts on a 5 on 4 off rota. There is just days available but we are also looking for someone who can work both days and nights.
