Role: Mechanical Fitter

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

Proactive are currently in search of Mechanical Fitters to start work immediately in Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity working for a world leader in measurement solutions, offering ample opportunity for progression, cross training and development.

Due to rapid expansion, our client is now recruiting experienced fitters and technicians to join the ever growing team. The Mechanical Fitter role will involve providing workshop-based support to our engineering team.

Our client will consider applications from:

• Experienced automotive workshop technicians with directly relevant experience.
• Engineering technicians with transferable skills and with an interest and enthusiasm for the role.

The nature of this position is varied and day to day activities may include:

• Set-up and installation of test powertrains and vehicles.
• Fabrication and instrumentation of test parts.
• Maintenance of a range of vehicle test facilities.

Depending on skills and experience, this role could develop into more of a senior position with additional responsibilities such as:

• Workshop management.
• Wider responsibilities for management and maintenance of facilities.
• Some or all of the following skills/experience would be an advantage - but additional training can be provided.
• Automotive maintenance, ideally including high-voltage systems.
• TIG welding.
• Sheet metal fabrication.
• Use of machine tools & hand tools.
• Electrical / electronics testing/fabrication.
