Job description

Due to Hewland’s continued expansion and strong product portfolio across both motorsport and future automotive, we are looking to recruit a Mechanical Inspector to support the Inspection Team.

Duties and responsibilities include:

ROLE DETAILS

· Calibrate a range of hand equipment/gauges

· Document and organise calibration system

· To provide support for both existing and new business opportunities

· 1st Off inspection

· Operating & Programming CMM's

· Identifying reoccurring quality issues and communicate them appropriately

· Check and verify the compliance of components produced at all stages within the business

· To conduct root cause analysis across a range of quality tools and techniques to ensure that the manufacturing processes meet customer requirements.

· Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives

The ideal candidate must have/ skills required:

· Calibration experience

· Manual Inspection Techniques

· Experience working with mechanical components

· Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications

· Industry relevant qualifications

· Good understanding of lean manufacturing principles and Root Cause Analysis

· Ensure that all measuring and test equipment used by the company (Micrometers, Verniers, etc) is calibrated

· An ability to learn in-house systems and pick up computer programmes quickly and efficiently

· Organised and analytical

· Must have a keen eye for detail, superb communication skills and a precise, meticulous approach

· Able to raise NCR's, complete FAIR's and Criticals

· Ability to interpret and understand technical data including customer drawings, specifications and documentation

Experience / Essential qualities in the following areas will be a distinct advantage:

· ISO9001:2015 experience

· ISO14001 experience

· CMM experience

· An apprenticeship or being time-served would also be advantageous but not essential

· MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection)

· NI (Nital Etching)

· Experience of maintaining a calibration system

· Creating and updating QA paperwork (such as Certificates of Conformity)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
