Booth Welsh has a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced Mechanical Engineer - this role will be part of our established manufacturing client's Engineering department based in Grangemouth and will be on a full time, permanent basis.
Purpose of the role
In the Engineering Support team, this role is focused on the development and execution of Asset Care Policy specific to assigned company Assets. The incumbent's responsibilities encompass ensuring regulatory compliance and adopting new and evolving standards for the designated Refinery Assets.
Key Accountabilities
Provision of discipline engineering to the Asset Team to ensure required technical input to deliver integrity, safety and reliability of the maintenance, plant modification and operation of the Asset. This will include support for RBI.
Establish Asset Care policies for assets, encompassing condition monitoring, inspection, and proactive maintenance requirements based on their criticality. Monitor the efficacy of these policies in achieving Asset integrity and reliability goals. Additionally, ensure the presence of suitable asset life plans, spare parts, and preventive maintenance procedures for equipment.
Authorise and provide scopes where necessary for all repair programs resulting from inspection reports to ensure that the Asset plant integrity standards are delivered.
Advise the Engineering Team Leads that the budget and resource planning are adequate to deliver the annual Asset Care implementation plan.
Ensure that the MMS (Maintenance Management System) database for all equipment has the correct technical details, master maintenance documents and properly schedules preventive maintenance to achieve the Asset Care Policy.
Root Cause Analysis following significant incidents and defects, and provide recommendations aimed at comprehending the causes and preventing recurring incidents.
Develop, recommend, and install (where appropriate) engineering improvements for the asset equipment to achieve the agreed asset improvement targets.
Responsible for the compilation of the work-list for respective discipline for Asset cycle ending TAR that will deliver future integrity and reliability targets.
Integral member of the cycle ending turnaround execution team, providing technical discipline expertise to ensure the executed scope is aligned with Asset Care Policies and to the required quality to deliver asset integrity and reliability targets.
Specify the engineering workscope prerequisites linked to Asset Interventions, particularly for emergent repairs or catalyst work, to minimize plant downtime and ensure that the work is executed as necessary to enhance future asset operational performance.
Ensure appropriate annual CAPEX submissions and expenditures to ensure critical material items are available to Asset as insurances or in support of Asset Turnaround programme.
Carry out spares review to develop a coherent spares strategy for the Asset to reduce operational vulnerability and reduce working capital. Will authorize all requests to store Asset spares in the company store facility and ensure data is valid in the MMS.
Offer mechanical support to aid maintenance teams in non-routine activities, such as establishing quality standards, defining work scopes, and managing change documentation for temporary repairs.
Education/ Experience
Engineering Degree in Discipline
Chartered Status desirable
Technical Skills
Exhibits a comprehensive grasp of engineering principles as a professional engineer, including familiarity with relevant engineering standards and their practical application.
Possesses adept analytical skills and the ability to tackle intricate problem-solving tasks.
Behavioural Skills
