The role
As a Mechanical Systems Supervisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The Type 31 Project will deliver 5 general purpose, global, adaptable, and exportable frigates to the Royal Navy designed to undertake a range of operational tasks from maritime security, humanitarian aid and disaster relief and defence engagement to operation in a high threat environment.
Day to day, you'll lead and motivate a group of our equipment outfitting and installation mechanical fitters to safely achieve defined packages of work.
  • You will utilise resources in the most effective manner focusing on elimination of waste and improving value add. All within the prescribed budgets, quality and delivery timescales.
  • Manage the work load to meet contract requirements whilst achieving cost, time and quality requirements.
  • Establish and ensure safety focussed working practices and the working environment is in accordance with the Company policy.
  • Liaise and work with planning, materials, warehousing, quality and other support functions to ensure a co-ordinated team approach.

This role is full time at 37 hours per week, and will be based onsite at our Rosyth Dockyard site.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Systems Supervisor:
  • Time served with recent and relevant experience of mechanical installations within a marine environment.
  • Ideally you will come from a ship building background however, candidates from other highly regulated and heavy industries will be considered such as Oil and Gas.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings is essential, including pipework.
  • Knowledge and experience of installing pumps, valves, pipework, shaft lines, Engines, Rudders and Stabilizers.

Qualifications for the Mechanical Systems Supervisor:
  • ONC or HNC is desirable however, we value difference and don't have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience then we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS and SC security clearance for this role.
