Mechanical Technician

The Position
Responsible to overhaul all types of air ends, blowers and related equipment as found in industrial and mobile air compressors. Workshop based; no outside work expected.
Responsibilities
- Inspection, evaluation and cleaning of incoming air ends,
- Support report preparation with written notes and photographs,
- Repair and rebuild air ends using own experience as well as supervision/instruction from the Lead Technician/Operations Manager,
- Test, paint, despatch as required,
- Additional responsibilities (subject to incumbent's skills) forklift operation, machining, grinding, weld repair and fabrication, compressor service, repair of similar equipment.
The Position Requirements
Experience and skill set
- The candidate must have a minimum of 3-5 years in equipment service or machinery maintenance. Specific experience with the overhaul of air compressors, pumps or other rotating machinery would be beneficial.
- High level of overall mechanical training and aptitude,
- Experience with basic workshop machine tools,
- Good understanding of mechanical equipment and how it works,
- Experience working safely with lifting and machine tools,
- Welding experience not specifically required but a key plus,
- Ability to work well in a team environment, willing to perform all workshop functions in support of customer requirements,
- Good communication skills, particularly to record evaluation findings and communicate within the team.

- Work week 37 ¾ hours scheduled over 4 ½ days,

This role would suit someone with an engineering apprentice, or experience with machining, welding or assembly.
