Job description

We are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician for our Glasgow workshop.

About you:

Essential Experience, Qualifications and Competencies

  • Time-Served Mechanical Fitter
  • Experienced in subsea equipment
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of process systems and /or Hydraulic products and related fabrication procedures
  • Working within a service industry with a keen focus on, and compliance with, QHSE policies
  • Previous experience of mechanical or hydraulic engineering
  • Ability to read and understand Hydraulic and Pneumatic schematics, P&ID’s and GA’s
  • Experience in Instrument and Hydraulic systems.
  • Good knowledge of hydraulic and instrument fittings and threads
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Numeric skills
  • Ability to work to strict standards and procedures
  • HSE and QA awareness

Desirable Experience, Qualifications and Competencies

  • SVQ in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • NVQ 3/ONC/HNC/HND Engineering discipline
  • Hands on experience in hydraulic bolt torquing and joint integrity
  • Knowledge and experience of working with high pressure gas management systems
  • A working knowledge of the products that will be installed
  • The ability to contribute to Project planning and scheduling.

About the role:

This position will be to supplement our Instrumentation & Integration Service Team (IIS) composed of Instrumentation Pipefitters, Welders and Tester/Flushers, for the manufacturing installation / integration of Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Hydrogen Gas Control Systems.    

Although the position is based onshore in Glasgow, however there might be requirements to travel to support the development of these industries and the company’s expectations for the growth of the Glasgow Team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Asist in the installation of a variety of assemblies
  • Modify installations as requested by Workshop Supervisor/Management
  • Install Bracketry
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out as per manager’s/supervisor’s written and verbal instructions, Work instructions, GA drawings etc
  • Ensure all jobs are undertaken to the required quality and specification and comply with Company QAM Procedures
  • Take part of other activities in the workshop if required
  • Ensure that all safety rules and regulations are conformed to at all times
  • Take responsibility for the commissioning and expediting of all kit issue parts, liaising with the Production Support Team as required
  • Ensure the accurate completion of all paperwork
  • The willingness to work overtime to ensure organisational or client deadlines are met.
