Media and Communications Lead NI

We're looking for a dedicated communications professional to join our busy Media and Communications team to make sure the voices of our children, young people and families are heard. We're looking for a highly motivated individual who is creative, strategic and results driven. You'll have great news sense and will be as comfortable working with social media as you are developing compelling stories for hard-hitting newspaper articles and broadcast channels. You will work collaboratively within the Media and Communications team across Barnardo's to promote our work in Northern Ireland and across the English regions. You will also be a key player linking our policy campaigns, children's services, fundraising, retail and corporate activity alongside external stakeholders. The successful candidate must be able to deliver high quality proactive and reactive communications to promote and protect the profile and reputation of Barnardo's. A key part of the role is to actively gather case studies to bring to life the work of Barnardo's. Strong relationships need to be formed with Barnardo's Children's Services to ensure a regular flow of new case studies. .

Knowledge of the media and proven success in achieving positive coverage ina range of relevant media.

Technical or professional knowledge of principles, procedures, methods andtechniques of proactive and reactive media work.

Awareness of the importance of accuracy: quality control and excellentservice for internal and external audiences.

Experience of working In a high profile, fast-paced media team, press office or public relationsfunction.

Experience of working as a print or broadcast journalist.

Experience of working In a child-focused organisation and/or voluntary sector

Experience of working in communications for an organisation across the UK.
