Job description

We’re looking to recruit an enthusiastic and confident individual to join the award-winning Media and External Relations Team in the University of Sheffield’s Department of Corporate Communications. The varied role will best suit someone who has experience working with the media, excellent communication skills and is excited to help source and translate complex research into engaging news stories and content that raises the profile and strengthens the reputation of the University. You will support a programme of activity to boost research impact by engaging with academics across the University to highlight priority research and academic expertise, offering opportunities for amplification across a range of communication channels, leveraging reputational benefit wherever possible. You’ll be able to juggle multiple projects, thrive in a fast paced environment, be confident in building and developing mutually beneficial relationships with journalists and broadcasters and be able to both work independently and with communication and marketing colleagues across the University and beyond. In return, you'll work with some of the most influential academics around on a variety of content, communications and campaigns and achieve national and international media coverage as a result of your copy and media pitches.
