The post holder will be responsible to the Medical Engineering Workshop Manager and will have knowledge and experience of fault-finding, repair and servicing of electronic medical devices and be skilled in the use of dedicated test equipment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivating and have a good working knowledge of MHRA guidelines. They will have good time management skills and hold a HNC or equivalent qualification in electronic engineering.
You will be based at the Royal Bolton Hospital, but will also be required to undertake work for our external clients.
To contribute to the efficient running of the Department, the Engineer will maintain, repair and calibrate patient orientated electronic medical equipment and other medical devices as managed by the department. This ensures that the equipment is in a fit and safe condition to minimise risk to patients and staff.
The Medical Engineering department is a part of iFM Bolton which is a wholly owned subsidiary company of the Royal Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. The Medical Engineering department provides a full asset management service to the Trust, this includes full involvement in the life cycle of medical equipment from trial/evaluation to procurement, commissioning to disposal, planned and corrective maintenance service.
We are a dynamic service and our team is made up of a variety of expert individuals each bringing with them unique skills and specialities.
Commission, repair, maintain, overhaul and recalibrate the range of electronic equipment and medical devices currently in use within the Trust or managed by the department. This includes diagnostic and therapeutic patient monitoring devices, life support, ventilatory and anaesthetic equipment, most of which will be complex and non-routine. All equipment will be maintained in accordance with the recommendations of MHRA Guidance for the Management of Medical Devices.
