Cringleford C of E VA Primary School is a happy, thriving school where children develop and learn confidently in a stable and nurturing environment.
We are looking to appoint a Medical Needs Support Assistant to deal with illness and injury among pupils and to liaise with external agencies, parents and families. The successful applicant will also be responsible for ensuring medical conditions of pupils are well managed in school. The role will start as soon as possible and will initially be a temporary role until August 2024; there may be a possibility of this being extended in the future. Hours of work, 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Supporting individual pupils in the management of their medical conditions eg monitoring blood sugar levels of children with Type 1 Diabetes.
- Responding to referral of pupils with illness or injury including accidents and emergencies, taking appropriate action ensuring that pupils are referred quickly and efficiently i.e. 999, taking pupil to A&E where necessary, administering medication/treatment and liaising with parents.
- Completing records of accidents and injuries to staff and students maintaining records for at least 10 years, listing pupil/staff incident, location, treatment and outcome.
- Ensuring medical room is clean and ready for use.
- Keeping paper records of pupils with medical conditions ie care plans, and administering medication as appropriate, dissemination of information and pupil care plans to appropriate staff, maintaining records for 10 years. Giving advice to teaching and non-teaching staff on the care of pupils with medical conditions.
- Arrange training as necessary to ensure teachers aware of how to treat certain emergency medical conditions whilst on school trips ie asthma attacks, allergic reaction etc ensuring teachers fully supported in their role and aware of how to treat certain conditions. Arrange training for staff as required for example in the use of epi-pen for severe allergy attacks.
- Host parent sessions re sleep, diet etc
- Maintaining medical supplies for first aid in school and for school trips, liaising with outside organisations, ordering on line ensuring stocks adequately maintained and available at short notice.
- Maintaining medical information file for all staff use.
