Job description

Job Title: Member of the Connexional Council 

Do you want to make a difference and contribute to The Methodist Church? Are you a keen and experienced individual who is interested in supporting the work we do within the Connexional team? Could you be a new Trustee?  

 

About the role  

 

The Connexional Council will come into being on 1 September 2024 to exercise the general control and management of the administration of the Church.  

 

The Members of the Connexional Council will be the Trustees of the Methodist Church in Gt Britain.  They will be expected to undertake the necessary training in charity trusteeship. 

 

The Connexional Council shall advise the Conference on connexional policy and strategy and so be part of the spiritual leadership of the Methodist Church in Britain. Its members will play a significant representative role on behalf of the Church.  

 

It shall have responsibility for the direction and management of the Connexional Team and all matters relating to or arising out of the employment of persons by or the stationing of ministers to connexional bodies. 

 

About You 

 

We are looking for an experienced, committed person who has transferable skills, this individual will: 

 

Have previous experience served as a Trustee or Committee member.  

 

Have an awareness of the variety of contexts that exist within the Methodist Church in Great Britain.  

 

Have a good knowledge of the constitutional and organisational arrangements of the Methodist Church.  

 

Have the ability to think strategically and connect vision, aims and strategies through theological reflection.  

 

Be a member in good standing of the Methodist Church in Britain 

 

Be able to exercises sound judgement in decision making.

Term of appointment: To start from April 2023 for an initial term of four years, renewable for a further two years, up to a maximum of six.
