Job description

Membership Engagement Manager
Ref: MEM(24)/FMC
Location: Slimbridge GL2, Martin Mere L40 or London SW13 with hybrid working opportunities
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, Full Time
Salary: £33,403 per annum

About the role
Members are the most valued supporters and sit at the heart of this charity. They provide crucial support to wetlands in many ways; some give money, some give time, others are vocal in their support, and it is important that they are all recognised and celebrated.

The Membership Engagement Manager is a key role working with the Fundraising, Marketing and Communications (FMC) and Operations teams to develop a culture of high performance in membership recruitment and retention at sites.

You will work with senior colleagues from Supporter Engagement and Operations, as well as the Director of Operations to develop a refreshed membership recruitment and engagement strategy and subsequent action plans for sites. You will also work closely with colleagues in FMC, ensuring that the on-site approach to membership recruitment and retention is in line with the supporter journey approach, and processes are fully compliant with Gift Aid, Fundraising Regulation and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

For this role some flexibility around working from home can be offered. It is expected the role will need to work from one of the larger three sites at Slimbridge GL2, London SW13 or Burscough L40 at least a couple of times a week. Regular travel to other sites across the UK will also be necessary, staying away from home as and when required.

About You
You will be a highly personable and professional individual, with demonstrable skills in listening, influencing and building trust with stakeholders across an organisation to deliver high performance.

An excellent communicator you will be experienced in developing and delivering effective action plans and delivering against targets. You will also have a clear track record of delivering training in supporter or customer care environments and you’ll be used to implementing plans and processes to improve performance.

A self-starter, you will thrive on getting out and meeting people and developing effective relationships with site- based and central teams to ensure ambitious targets are met and the best in supporter care and stewardship is delivered.

About the Employer
Our client is the charity for wetlands and wildlife. They have recently completed a review of their strategic priorities which includes ambitious targets for developing bigger and better wetlands, encouraging more people to take direct action for these unique places, and ensuring decision makers around the world realise the essential role wetlands play in restoring nature, capturing carbon and enhancing health and wellbeing.

This organisation is at the beginning of an exciting change. They have ambitious, five year, supporter growth targets ahead of them and they have a dedicated and experienced Supporter Engagement Team that focuses on delivering these targets through a data-driven and supporter-centric approach.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 33 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays, increasing to 38 days after 5 years’ service
  • Contributory pension scheme matching up to 7%
  • Life assurance providing 3 times annual salary
  • Access to a wide range of resources to support your health and wellbeing including our 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced family friendly policies
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free entry to all this organisation's centres
