Job description

Membership Development Manage
£44,100 pa plus excellent benefits
London WC1 and home-based
35 hours per week

The Membership Development Manager is an important role for the College as you will focus on achieving the annual membership income targets, whilst also taking the lead on improving how the College engages with its members and enhancing the member value proposition.

As Membership Development Manager, you will work closely with the Head of Membership to develop and deliver a three year strategy to grow and retain members from both the UK and international markets, whilst actively supporting the wider work of the Income Diversification team.

Reporting to the Head of Membership, you will also assist with successfully engaging with our growing membership. You will analyse member data, survey outputs and the external environment, identifying trends and gaining insights and intelligence to inform and develop the member value proposition.

A senior member of a fundamental College department, you will also be responsible for supporting Area Officers, increasing engagement with paediatric societies and developing high-impact relationships with key employers in the UK and emerging markets.

In addition, you will help enhance the onboarding process for new members and assist with a review of the volunteering programme.

Educated to a good standard, you should have experience of working for a membership organisation and have experience of growing membership income, along with a strong track record of achieving financial targets.

With a background in developing membership value propositions and membership engagement initiatives, you should have proven experience of using CRMs to interrogate, analyse and evaluate data to inform initiatives.

You should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to influence and collaborate, whilst also having a good understanding of project management methodology and how to apply it to projects.

A management or project management qualification along with experience of leading focus groups and qualitative research would be desirable. An understanding of growing membership in international markets would also be an advantage.

The Membership Services Team occupies a pivotal position in the running of the College. It is the first port of call for members who require assistance or information, and it is also a central point of reference for departments across all Divisions. It is a busy, outward-facing responsive team whose activities and outputs are responsible for looking after the records of over 22,500 members worldwide and a budget of £6 million.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the College influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.

The RCPCH has more than 22,500 members and fellows and employs around 200 staff, most of whom work in our London office in Holborn. We have smaller offices in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The RCPCH wants to represent all the communities we serve. Appointment will be made solely on merit. However, the College is particularly keen to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, and/or candidates with a disability who are currently under-represented at this level of the organisation.

The College operates a flexible and modern working policy, whereby our colleagues work in the office for a minimum of 40% over a 4 week cycle and the remainder from home.

Closing date: 31 January 2024.
