The Home
Blair House Care Home is a registered nursing home with a newly opened Mental Health unit. The home has a total of 85 beds: 21 Mental Health, 20 residential dementia, 15 nursing dementia and 29 frail and elderly nursing.
The Role
As part of a compassionate team, you will play a crucial part in helping to provide the best quality of life for the people we support.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage unpredictable and distressing situations in a calm and logical way
- Participate in activities, motivating and supporting residents to get involved
- Assist residents with eating, drinking, washing, dressing and going to the toilet
- Assess and observe the emotional and physical wellbeing of residents, recognising changes and reporting as necessary in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records, communicating effectively with residents and their families
You will need:
- to be a good listener, showing patience, compassion, empathy and understanding
- have a basic understanding of the main Mental Health conditions experienced by residents
- previous experience preferred – this can be on a voluntary basis or experience gained caring for a friend or family member with mental ill-health
- to be NISCC registered or eligible to register
