What you’ll be responsible for:
- To promote effective treatment of clients through the safe management and administration of medication including stock auditing and ordering; and the administration of medication through injection.
- To manage own workload and that of the unregistered staff effectively in advance and on a day to day basis
- To support the team unit manager to manage and evaluate the current client group
- To promote the effective operation of the service by maintaining accurate and relevant information about occupancy
- To contribute to the planning and implementation of induction, training and education of students and new staff.
- To contribute to the development of others supporting the supervision and evaluation of support staff and students.
- To complete the mentors training and participate in student education.
- To assist the senior staff by identifying personal and professional training needs in order to appropriately plan for future training and development.
- To provide effective supervision, support, and guidance for non-registered workers and any work delegated to them
- To actively engage in regular supervision and annual appraisal ensuring objectives are met in a timely manner.
- To remain up to date and compliant with mandatory training requirements
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
You’ll have the following qualification/experience:
Qualification:
- Recognized professional qualification in Mental Health nursing
- Registration with NMC
- Up to date Clinical Risk Assessment training
- Additional Professional Qualification
- Evidence of personal and professional development in contemporary Mental Health
Experience:
- Use of formal and informal assessments and understanding of the assessment process to formulate client interventions
- Sound understanding of the Mental Health Act and its application in an inpatient setting
- Provision of supervision and workload management of junior staff
- Experience of working in a community setting
Knowledge and Skills:
- Some knowledge of best practice in providing rehabilitation and recovery focused interventions to individuals experiencing complex Mental Health issues
- Sound understanding of the Mental Health Act and its application in an inpatient setting
- Knowledge in the application of relevant nursing and recovery focused theoretical models, and approaches relevant to client group.
- Training and presentation skills.
