To support this goal, Fort McMurray Addiction and Mental Health department has an exciting opportunity for a Mental health Therapist, Child & Youth. The Child and Youth, Community Addictions and Mental Health program provides specialized assessment and treatment services to children, youth and their families. The addictions and Mental Health, child and youth team works collaboratively as a multidisciplinary team providing care of children experiencing serious emotional, psychological, behavioural and/or psychiatric illness. Supporting individuals' abilities to guide their own wellness journeys, and live satisfying, hopeful, and contributing lives. Your responsibilities will also include working in partnership with and providing consultation other healthcare professionals in the continuum of Mental Health care. Located within Fort McMurray which resides on Treaty 8 territory, the largest treaty by area in the history of Canada. This role is focused on supporting individuals within Treaty 8 and surrounding areas. Creating a safe space for all individuals. May require some travel within the region. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
DescriptionAs the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant Mental Health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in Mental Health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in Mental Health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in Mental Health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
