A lovely specialist school in Oxford are on the hunt for a Mental Health Youth Worker to join their staff starting as soon as possible!

You role as a Mental Health Youth Worker will involve a lot of duties and responsibilities but most importantly you will be responsible for supporting the students in the classroom. They need some support coping and managing their emotions which can take a toll on their school work.

The students in this school struggle with a rage of additional needs that badly affect their Mental Health and ability to cope with their emotions in healthy ways.

Many have been diagnosed with Autism and other co-existing disorders. While battling with learning difficulties, these young people also have to deal with stress and anxiety, often related to school avoidance and a tough family background.

As a Mental Health Worker, you will have the opportunity to support these young people and give them the tools they need to thrive at school. Your duties will consist of various classroom duties, such as:

Helping set up for lessons, helping tidy away lesson materials, providing general classroom supervision and behaviour management. Whilst helping these young people achieve their full potential in the classroom, you will also be assisting with helping them regulate their emotions, process their thoughts and feelings and help to de-escalate any behaviour.

What you need to be a great Mental Health Youth Worker:

Personality is often the most important, so even if you do not have much experience working with children and young people, this will to hinder your application.
