Metallographic Technician

Independent Forgings and Alloys (IFA), one of the UK’s leading independent aerospace and industrial forgers, are currently seeking a Metallographic Technician to join their Quality team.
Joining our team, you will..
* Interpret requirements from work route cards/test instruction paperwork.
* Metallographic specimen selection, preparation and etching.
* Perform macrographic and micrographic examinations to the relevant standards.
* Prepare, handle and dispose of chemicals/solutions ensuring that all work is done in line with Health and safety and quality standards.
* Assist in failure and non-conformance investigations.
* Complete reports and other information as required for data interpretation.
* Control the archiving of metallographic test samples.
More about you:
Educated either to A level standard in a science-based subject or equivalent experience in a laboratory environment, you will have good working knowledge in the application and function of microscopy and metallography in addition to ISO/IEC 17025.
A degree in materials science or a relevant engineering subject would be desirable, however by no means essential. If you match the job criteria, are a team player with good IT skills and have proactive approach to Health and Safety, then we would love to hear from you!
