Meter Reader
Full Job Description
Efficiently extract data from half-hourly electric meters while providing exceptional customer service. Conduct annual safety checks on electric meters.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Perform weekly checks on your company vehicle, reporting any issues promptly.
- Drive safely to sites, liaising with Reception/Security personnel professionally.
- Gain site access, locate electric meters, and carry out required checks.
- Record and report any challenges faced during site visits.
- Ensure accurate documentation of Meter Point Asset No (MPAN) and Meter Serial Number.
- Conduct meter checks, record data, and submit daily reports to the line manager.
- Perform half-hourly downloads, record successful data transfers, and document any challenges faced.
- Maintain the safekeeping of issued equipment.
- Respond promptly to scheduling inquiries and communicate regularly with Head Office.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures, participate in training activities, and comply with company policies.
General:
- Complete mandatory training, including DBS certificate, manual handling, driver awareness, etc.
- Familiarity with HH download software (training provided).
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities.
- Stay updated on legislative changes and codes of practice.
- Exhibit customer-focused, flexible, and helpful behavior.
- Display ownership, initiative, and professionalism, even in challenging situations.
- Share knowledge and collaborate effectively with the team.
- Attention to detail in documentation is crucial.
- Work effectively, safely, and responsibly without supervision, including lone working.
Skills, Knowledge, and Certification:
- Mandatory completion and maintenance of training, including health and safety essentials.
- Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and rapport-building abilities.
- Physical fitness and manual dexterity for regular handling tasks.
- Full UK driving license (held for a minimum of 1 year) and willingness to travel frequently.
Other Essential Requirements:
- Immediate reporting of any health or medical conditions affecting job performance.
- Timely reporting of driving incidents, points, prosecutions, or license loss.
- Willingness to drive long distances and work in varied weather conditions and challenging environments, occasionally requiring overnight stays.
