Millbay Docks Port Operatives

Part-time port Operatives are required from 18th March until September onwards in Plymouth.

Your new company
To actively engage in the mooring/unmooring of vessels, the movement of vehicles and passengers through the Port, operating plant and equipment safely and responsibly. Full training to be given.
You will be sharing shifts with one other person and will work between 16-24 hours per week depending on the needs of the company.
The role is due to start from Monday 18th March until at least September.
Working hours can be between 8am - 10.30pm depending on the needs.
Example of some shifts below:

Monday - 14:30pm - 10:30pm

Tuesday - 12:30pm - 20:30pm

Wednesday - 9:00am - 17:00pm

Your new role
ALL TRAINING WILL BE GIVEN.

To work safely and responsibly in all aspects of the role. Assist in the compilation of Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and participate in Tool Box Talks

Authorised to take part in mooring/unmooring operations and to operate cargo handling plant and port infrastructure including Front Loading shovels, Fork Lift Trucks, Skidsteers, telehandlers, tugmasters, RoRo ramp and passenger access bridge.

To work as part of the ferry handling team and assist in general port operations and stevedoring.

Ensure good housekeeping on the Port as directed by supervisors

What you'll need to succeed

Aptitude to learn new skills and have a flexible outlook

Ability to fit into and enhance the existing Plymouth operations team

Be physically fit and be able to carry out manual tasks

Ability to work alone once training has been completed.

You would need to complete a drugs and alcohol test in your first week of starting in the role.
