Location - Clevedon

Hours - 40 hrs per week, Monday to Friday plus on-call.

Salary: £22,173

Must have at least one year experience in the building trade, used to manual handling. Previous experience with carpentry and building work preferred.

The Role

As a Minor Adaptations Technician you will ensure all adaptation work is to the agreed specification and to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets. To make new or modify existing equipment and or fixtures and fittings as necessary to maximise the independence and mobility of service users. To ensure that the right product, in the right condition is delivered (and installed) to the client with an appropriate and caring manner within the specified timeframe to the agreed specification and to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets.

The Responsibilities:

  • Carry out client home visits for installations of adaptations. Following a site inspection and risk assessment, carry out fitting according to assessment. On completion write up report.
  • Joint visits with prescribers to risk assess and share technician’s expertise and knowledge for tasks to be carried out.
  • Provide training and demonstrate to prescribers how to measure stairways, assess for ramp access and platforms.
  • To design, modify and construct equipment to enable it to be fitted, where off the shelf solutions cannot be safely utilised.
  • Use power operated machinery and industrial standard workshop equipment safely and competently.
  • To plan own route and liaise with clients re installation dates and times, utilising knowledge of local area.
  • To liaise with Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and District Nurses for the provision of a joint visit (eg. The need for on site liaison, provision of demonstration or assessment equipment etc).
  • To demonstrate a practical knowledge to enable the safe fitting, repair, maintenance and servicing of homecare medical equipment.
  • Undertake risk assessments on activities relating to themselves, modifications and fabrications prior to undertaking any work/duties, and should they believe that there be a risk of injury to any person then they should seek further instruction – at all costs clients should not be put at risk.
  • To visit clients homes and deliver, collect, service and repair equipment in a friendly, efficient and courteous manner with due respect to the client, their carer and their property.
  • To answer out of hours calls in line with the contract specification.

The Person

The successful candidate will:

  • Have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 3 years
  • Deliver a service with empathy and care
  • Work well independently and as part of a team as well as having good communication skills
  • Be flexible with working days/hours to suit the needs of the business
  • Participate in an emergency on-call rota

Please note, all successful applicants will be required to pass a DBS check, and be continuously DBS checked every 3 years.
