Charity Secretary

We are seeking a dedicated Charity Secretary to support the Board of Trustees in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of meetings and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Charity Secretary will play a crucial role in maintaining the 'conscience' of the charity, ensuring that all decisions and actions align with the governing document and the charity's objectives.
Day to Day of the role:
- Plan and prepare for committee meetings and the AGM, coordinating with the Chair and other relevant parties.
- Schedule meeting dates, book rooms, and distribute notifications, minutes, and other necessary papers.
- Draft agendas in collaboration with the Chair and ensure accurate recording of decisions and actions in the minutes.
- Follow up on actions and report on the progress and outcomes of decisions at subsequent committee meetings.
- Handle correspondence, draft letters and emails as agreed upon at committee meetings, and summarize received communications at the next meeting.
- Oversee the preparation of necessary reports, such as the annual report to members.
- Ensure that trustee decisions are implemented in accordance with the charity's governing document and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent listening, oral, and literacy skills.
- Organized and methodical approach to tasks.
- Proficiency in minute-taking and maintaining accurate records.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and commitment to the charity's values.
- Familiarity with Charity law and the voluntary sector is highly desirable.
