ROLE RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Area Team Leader, you will carry out repairs and preventative maintenance, to vehicle security equipment and air conditioning but also undertake other repairs and maintenance to vehicle as required. Examine, repair and test vehicles, reporting orally and/or in writing upon the condition, serviceability and safety. Ensuring all modifications are carried out employing skills and knowledge as may be required.
  • Complete Job Cards, Preventative Maintenance Documentation, Examination Reports and any other documentation as required.
  • Attend call outs as required.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance at the correct intervals, examine and repair vehicles or component parts using the necessary tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner, at locations as directed by the company/Area Team Leader.
  • Perform other repair and maintenance duties as required by the Company.
  • To work to G4S target repair times.
  • Be fully conversant with all types of electrical and mechanical vehicles repairs to City & Guilds standards, ideally NVQ level 2/3 in engineering.
  • Ideally have knowledge of electronic and logic systems in vehicles or associated industries.
  • Interpret and implement technical service information manufacturers modifications.
  • Keep up to date with legislation affecting the operation of motor vehicles and all ancillary equipment, to NVQ level 2/3 in Motor vehicle.
  • To be fully IT literate, ideally ECDL qualified.
  • Carry out regular stock checks in accordance with Company Policies.
  • Observe, recognise and report on vehicles or component parts of impending failure
  • Complete Job Cards, Preventative Maintenance Documentation, Examination Reports and any other documentation as required.
  • Must be fully trustworthy and conscientious
  • Interpret driver reported defects, take action and sign defects sheets.
  • Ensure the maintenance of company vehicles, equipment and tools is done in accordance with Company Policy.
  • Keep the Company issued vehicle clean and tidy. Maintain property and take all necessary steps to ensure it and all its contents are secure.
  • Prevent the use of vehicles that are un-roadworthy or do not meet the Company's security criteria.
  • Liaise with operational staff.
  • Keep & work with in all Health and Safety Code of Practice.

This role profile will be subject to change in accordance with departmental developments and the job holder’s expertise.

  • The hourly rate of pay is £21.24 in the first 6 months, rising to £21.54 Currently overtime opportunities are available to enhance earning potential but overtime is not guaranteed. The above quoted salary is based on a 48 hour working week. If you work less hours than this, then your earnings would inevitably be less, and your actual earnings will be dependent on your hourly rate, the number of hours that you work, and your offer letter and terms and conditions of employment.


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

We also have some specific security criteria that you will need to meet:
  • You must be able to pass a criminal record check as well as a personal credit and ID check.
  • You must also have a 10 year employment/unemployment/educational history that we can check and verify.
  • You will need to be prepared to undergo airport style searches when entering and leaving our premises and be comfortable working within a secure and confined environment.
  • An SIA licence would be beneficial.
