Mechanical Engineer/Commercial Pipe Fitter Opportunity

Position Overview: Due to significant growth, our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Pipe Fitter/Mechanical Engineer to perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Activities across a variety of commercial premises, primarily within the M25 area.
Key Details:
- Salary: Up to £48,000
- Hours: 8am – 5pm
- Location: London, Inside M25
- Call-out Rota: Approximately 1 week in 7
- Overtime Rate: 1.5 or double time plus a standby allowance of £150

Responsibilities:
- Mobile heating, commercial pipe fitting, and mechanical engineering tasks involving wet systems in both modern and older large residential blocks and commercial buildings with central plant rooms.
- Understanding gravity and pressurised systems, including single, two pipe, ladder, and district distribution systems.
- Handling pipework ranging from ½” to 2” for galvanized, iron, and steel materials (including threading machines).
- Managing pipework up to 108mm for copper, plastic, composite, and crimped pipe systems.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of pumps, pressure and expansion vessels, DMZ valves, plate exchangers, strainers, and side stream filtration systems.
- Fault finding in building-related heating, hot and cold water distribution issues.
- Performing emergency repairs and accessing pipework within walls and floors.
- Conducting planned mechanical maintenance on non-electrical systems with a significant focus on reactive and quoted works, including minor domestic plumbing in residential apartments and commercial plant rooms.
Requirements:
- Must be a fully qualified engineer (City & Guilds/NVQ or equivalent)
- Must be living and authorized to work in the UK.
- A full UK driving license is essential along with a clear DBS check.
