We have an AWEsome opportunity for a Modelling Principal to join us at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE).
This is an exciting time to join us as a Modelling Principal as we begin a once in a generation programme of work in support of the United Kingdom's Continuous at Sea Deterrent.
We are located in the countryside (RG7 4PR) between Reading and Basingstoke with onsite parking. There are good bus links between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury.

As a Modelling Principal you will be a key member of the Cost Estimating and Modelling Team providing leadership, specialist subject matter expertise and supporting the implementation of P3M Project Controls and enterprise-wide business and quantitative modelling
As a Modelling Principal we would like you to have experience of the following:
Comprehensive working experience in Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), developing models encompassing cost, schedule and risk dataAble to understand and interpret complex models and outputsExperience of large projects, programmes, and working within a project controls environment, including stakeholder engagement at all levelsExtensive working experience at a senior level using statistical methods, modelling or risk reviewCo-ordinating a team and developing processes and methodologiesExperience working within construction, engineering, or regulated environments (MOD/Defence/Nuclear/Regulated)Good technical review skills, risk software experienceBuilding great relationships and engaging with people across the organisationJuggling priorities and delivering within demanding timescalesProblem solving and reaching conclusionsProfessional body membership IRM, ACostE or APM is highly desirable
A typical day for a Modelling Principal could look like this:
Acting as the single modelling SME and Point of Contact as set by the Head of Estimating and the PMOMaintaining an effective modelling and estimating service to meet business needsCo-ordinating a small team of specialistsDeveloping and maintaining key relationshipsLeading on validation reviews, assurance and auditInterpret outputs from a range of quantitative modelling tools and techniquesValidate and underwrite bespoke enterprise-wide requirementsAdvocating modelling; its benefits, providing advice and enabling informed solutionsDevelop training and creating development materialCoaching, mentoring and functional developmentImplementation of the fundamentals of Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) practiceUnderstanding and interpretation of complex models and outputsUnderstanding, interpreting and manipulating cost and schedule dataDevelopment and application of Cost and Schedule Risk Reviews ('confidence models')Providing support to business cases and investment approvalsDeveloping and supporting continuous improvement and cost benchmarking activitiesManaging interfaces with the Head of Estimating and Head of Risk
