Job overview

This post is based on at Samuel Johnson Community Hospital.

Your role will be to work as an integral part of the Clinical Ward Team and to be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities services in the ward area, ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment.

The main elements of the role are to ensure that there is a seamless approach to the provision of non-clinical services; ensuring the appropriate delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks, to meet individual patients’ needs, as determined by the Ward Sister.

This post will incorporate a training package incorporating the care certificate to support the wide ranging practical experience gained on the clinical area.

Main duties of the job

* Ensure that personal privacy, dignity and confidentiality relating to all aspects of the Trust’s operations is maintained.

* To participate in Patient Satisfaction Surveys as required.

* To provide a focal point for individual patients in relation to their day to day non-clinical needs.

* Liaise with the Service Provider to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment and that all patient food and beverage requirements are met.

* Liaise with the Lead Sister and Service Provider, to ensure that the day’s work is planned in the most appropriate way, in order to deliver a high standard of patient facilities services.

* Undertake the cleaning of medical equipment, and other relevant items as identified.

* Ensure thorough cleanliness standards are met in the ward kitchen in accordance with contractual requirements and Food Hygiene Standards.

* Basic Numeracy & Literacy to read information and test fridge temperatures

* Willing to undertake customer care training

* The ability to plan ahead to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the ward in terms of meeting catering/cleaning standards

* Be able to prioritise to meet the needs of the service and have a logical approach in order to deliver a clean working environment
