About the role

Sense has a great opportunity for a passionate individual to join our team as an Multi Sensory Impairment (MSI) Teacher. This is a Hybrid working role and you will be based at either one of the following offices; Barnet, Birmingham, Bristol, Loughborough or Wakefield.

This role is based in various settings across the region to support children and young people who are deafblind, including their homes, schools and colleges. As part of this role, you will have occasional local and national travel to meet the needs of the children, young people and families we support.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children who are deafblind, focusing on communication, access to learning, interaction, social skills/opportunities, play and individual development. Supporting other professionals and raising awareness of deafblindness is also a key part of the role. As a MSI Consultant Teacher you will manage your own caseload as well as support other members of a national team, you will need to be able to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The successful candidate will have a wide range of knowledge and skills in supporting children who are deafblind and experience in working alongside a range of other professionals. providing advice, support and training.

For this role, we are looking for a Qualified Teacher of Children and Young People with Multi-Sensory Impairment or a Qualified Teacher who would be interested in training as a QTMSI. The salary for the role will be discussed at interview for either a Developing MSI Teacher or MSI Teacher.

Here at sense we work over a 52 week period, not only through term time. This means you are able to take your leave more flexibly!

Key skills and experience

  • A full UK driving license is an essential requirement for this role.
  • The role is for a QTMSI but we would be interested to hear from any QTVIs or QTOD with applicable experience too.
  • Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate development opportunities to a wide range of audiences covering various educational aspects of MSI.
